Athletics

Springboro High School's mascot and nickname are the Panthers, while the school colors are white and royal blue. The school's athletic program was a charter member of the Fort Ancient Valley Conference from 1964, when it joined as Clearcreek High School, until 1998.[2] After many years of winning the All-Sports Trophy in the former Mid-Miami League, Springboro left for the more challenging Greater Western Ohio Conference, keeping a heated rivalry with Lebanon High School.

Springboro Community Schools has recently completed a multi-million dollar partnership with Miami Valley Hospital, giving them naming rights to the stadium "CareFlight Field," named for the hospital's "CareFlight" helicopter. This deal also provides "CareFlight Field" with turf surfacing, a new track, and a three story building which will house doctors' offices and athletic facilities, along with an adjoining two-story press box. When completed in the year 2009, this is one of the premier athletic football facilities in southern Ohio. With many schools following its lead, Springboro was the first school to compile a partnership like this.

Along with the football facilities, SHS basketball coach Troy Holtrey raised over $20,000 during the summer of 2006 to build a state-of-the-art locker room. It comes complete with custom built wood lockers, automatic-retracting Hi-Def projector screen with surround sound, a replica basketball court hardwood floor, custom carpeting and coaches' offices. It is said to set the standard for semi-high-profile locker rooms for high schools.

A novel, "The Heart of the Panthers", detailing the life and times of a football team of Panther past was published in 2007 by Jeff Kirby. The novel describes the story of how an assistant coach of the Springboro Panthers football team, 'Brutey' Baker, reflects on the true meaning of "heart". Through his own teachings to his players, he ultimately learns more about himself as well.
